Requests made for a medicine you have not had before, or for one prescribed by your previous practice will not be issued until you see one of our doctors.
If you are registered for patient Access, please order your repeat prescriptions online. If you haven’t yet registered for Patient Access, please come to reception with some photographic ID in order to get your log in details.
We use the Electronic Prescribing Service (EPS). If you are not signed up, please speak to your pharmacist or our reception to nominate where you want your prescriptions automatically sent to electronically. It means you can directly order your medication online using Patient Access at the top of this page and then collect the prescription 2 working days later at your pharmacy of choice.
Most of the local pharmacies offer a collection and delivery service whereby they will order your medication and collect the prescription from the practice.
Alternatively, a repeat prescription can be generated by handing in the counterfoil attached to your previous prescription. Please use the counterfoil wherever possible and give us notice of two working days.
Please allow two working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
We only accept requests for repeats over the phone for those who are housebound or severely disabled. However we do make exceptions for unforeseen circumstances.
If you live outside the UK we are not permitted to issue repeat prescriptions.
Prescription requests for minor ailments
Our clinicians do not routinely prescribe for treatments for minor ailments as they can readily be bought over the counter.
Minor ailments scheme – The minor ailment service allow people who don’t pay prescription charges to obtain advice and treatment for common conditions from local pharmacies for free without needing to visit a GP.
Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see a doctor, nurse practitioner or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications and notification should appear on your repeat slip.
Please ensure that you book an appropriate appointment to avoid unnecessary delays to further prescriptions.
Our nearest chemists are Pharmacy express and Alpha Pharmacy and they are open 09.00 to 18.30 hrs Monday to Friday and on Saturday morning. Your local pharmacist can give you friendly, expert advice about over-the-counter medicines that can help with lots of common conditions, and there’s no need for an appointment.
As well as dispensing prescriptions, pharmacists provide a range of services related to specific health issues and can advise on minor ailments such as colds, skin conditions and allergies. Other services include emergency contraception and incontinence supplies.
Tests & results
Tests have to be authorised by a doctor or nurse and interpreted in context with the clinical situation. Doctors request tests for many different reasons: they may be looking for a particular problem or trying to rule something out.
Please always phone us for your results between 10 am and 6 pm following any investigation.
The average wait time for results are:
- Xrays – 1 week
- Blood tests – 5 days
- Smears – 2 weeks
If a result requires urgent action we will contact you. We will NOT contact you routinely for normal results.
All results are viewed and marked by a doctor. If a doctor has marked a result “normal” then you do NOT need to be concerned, even if there is a red exclamation mark next to it. This “exclamation mark” indicates that a result is outside the normal range. This may be significant, but in many cases it is not, and your doctor will know whether this is the case and if any action needs to be taken.
